Kingspan is a market leading manufacturer of high-performing premium insulation materials, systems, and products. When it comes to insulation materials Kingspan is a brand leader within the construction and building industry best known for their well trusted top-quality innovative products. There extensive range of materials offers a selection of advanced insulation products designed to suit the needs of most insulation applications, environments, and of course, project needs.

Kingspan’s Insulation History
Kingspan started in 1965 as a family business in engineering and grew throughout the 60s and 70s. the first insulation panel was created in 1976 and in 1989 the Kingspan group was officially created, and trading began. Since then, Kingspan has successfully launched a variety of building materials including insulation ranges such as Kooltherm, Greenguard, and Therma. Kingspan is based in Ireland and now trades in over 80 countries with more than 210 factories with over 22,000 people. Kingspan are also owners of insulation brand Ecotherm.
The Kingspan Group are united by their mission to accelerate a net-zero carbon future with the wellbeing of the planet and people at heart. Kingspan’s 10-year sustainability programme, also known as planet passion, is a 10-year global plan that aims to tackle three of the biggest global challenges; climate change, protection of the natural world, and circularity, using advanced materials, building systems, and digital technologies. Kingspan offers a wide range of insulation materials within a variety of product ranges suitable for internal and external walls, floors, and pitched roof and flat roof and other applications.
Kingspan Kooltherm K118 Insulated Plasterboard
Kingspan K118 is a high-quality insulated plasterboard that is part of the Kooltherm range. These board are 2400mm by 1200mm and have a fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic core with foil facings on each side, bonded to a sheet of 12.5mm tapered-edge gypsum plasterboard. These boards are available in thicknesses from 32.5mm to 92.5mm. This 2-in-1 product can be applied to walls, roofs and ceilings and will save time and money on purchasing and installing two products as opposed to one. The tapered edges of the board are designed to be skimmed once installed to make decorating quicker and simpler. K118 can be applied to solid walls including brickwork and stonework, timber and metal stud walls, and pitched roof over the rafters. The insulated plasterboards are long lasting and durable and will not degrade over time with an incredible thermal conductivity of just 0.019W/mK, saving energy bills and creating a more temperature-controlled home or workspace.
Kingspan Thermapitch TP10 Insulation Board
TP10 is part of the Thermapitch range and is designed for use in warm pitched roofs and attic spaces within new builds or retrofit projects, reduces heat levels escaping through the roof, saving up to 30% on energy costs and improving energy efficiency by reducing contributions to global warming. The TP10 boards can be installed between and under the roof rafters. This insulation is 2.4m by 1.2m, available in a variety of thicknesses between 25mm and 165mm, designed for multiple applications within residential and commercial buildings. These boards have a rigid Polyisocyanurate (PIR) core with composite foil facings on each side to improve thermal performance and prevent moisture build up. This product although designed with roof applications in mind, can be installed within a variety of application, making this the ideal products for builders, architects, building professionals, and DIYers. Thermapitch is also lightweight and easy to cut and install and transport around the property when installing.
Kingspan Kooltherm K106 Cavity Board Insulation
The K106 Cavity board is a premium board designed for full fill cavity wall insulation. This board has a low thermal conductivity of 0.019W/mK and is 1200mm by 450mm with thicknesses of 90mm and 115mm available. K106 is made up of a low-lambda rigid thermoset phenolic core with low emissivity composite foil facings bonded to one side and a water-tight, vapour-open polypropylene fleece outer facing bonded to the other. This particular combination of materials protects against the penetration of moisture, ensures less heat passes through the boards, keeps internal temperatures level, and creates a more energy efficient environment. K106 is installed within the inner and outer leaf of the wall as it is being built with the foil facing adjacent with the inner leaf and the polypropylene fleece adjacent to the outer leaf. The board is robust and durable and will not sag or rot, maintaining thermal performance and insulating properties over time.
Kingspan Thermafloor TF70 Insulation Board
TF70 is a high-quality floor insulation that is part of the Thermafloor range and can be applied to floor applications inclusive of solid or suspended floors, between and below joists and below the screed, within new builds or refurbishment projects, compatible with underfloor heating. This material has a Polyisocyanurate (PIR) core with low emissivity foil facings and a thermal conductivity of just 0.022W/mK, but it is the high compressive strength that makes them the ideal product for high-load areas and floor applications that will withstand pressure. These boards come in sizes of 2400mm by 1200mm and thicknesses from 20mm to 165mm to best suit project requirements. This product is a versatile and efficient solution to improve the thermal quality of the building, helping to reduce energy consumption and enhance indoor comfort.
Kingspan FAQs
What is the difference between the Therma and Kooltherm range?
Kooltherm insulation is made up of phenolic boards whereas Therma is made up of Polyisocyanurate (PIR) boards. Both materials are rigid thermoset foams that are bonded to facings on each side. Each board has an impressive thermal conductivity with phenolic between 0.018W/mK and 0.022W/mK and PIR at just 0.022W/mK.
Is TP10 the same as TF70?
Both Kingspan TP10 and TF70 boards are the exact same product. TW55 is also the same board as TP10 and TF70. The boards are certified however under different names with TP for pitched roof insulation, TF for floor insulation, and TW for wall insulation. Despite the name of these products, they can all be used as a substitute for the other due to their specifications. These products will arrive in dual branded packs, each pack will have a sticker stating all three products, TP10, TF70, TW55.
Why is Kingspan insulation so expensive?
Kingspan products can be pricey, however the price is reflected in the high quality and performance of the insulation materials. The long-term results of Kingspan are saving money on monthly energy bills, therefore although the upfront cost may be high this is reflected within energy bills throughout the years so come.
What insulation material is best for my home?
The best insulation for your home is dependent on where the insulation is being installed, what the insulation is for, and your budget. Commonly used materials include fibreglass, mineral wool, and rigid foam.
What is thermal conductivity and why is it important?
Thermal conductivity is the rate that heat travels from one side of the insulation material to the other, the lower the thermal conductivity of the insulation material, the better. Low levels of thermal conductivity will help to maintain a stable indoor temperature by keeping heat from travelling in and out of the property through the building’s thermal envelope.
