Recticel Insulation History
Recticel insulation is part of the Recticel Group, which is a leading European manufacturer for polyurethane solutions. The Recticel group started at a gunpowder mill in 1778 and it wasn’t until 1965 that Recticel began working with rigid Polyurethane foam for thermal insulation purposes, which has continued until this day. Recticel’s journey continues within the building and construction industry with their range of high-quality insulation solutions. Recticel’s selection of insulation materials ranges from Silentwall acoustic panels to Eurodeck roof insulation and Eurothane GP multipurpose insulation boards. Their insulation materials are suitable for a variety of applications including pitched roofs, flat roofs, tapered roofing systems, loft spaces, ceilings, soffits, external walls, cavity walls, internal walls, floors, basements and other applications.
Recticel has a commitment to develop effective and fresh solutions using their extensive experience and far-reaching expertise with an overall aim to reach elevated levels of comfort. Over the years Recticel has redefined its core values and adapted to the requirements of today inclusive of innovative products that encompass sustainability. The Recticel brand strives to meet environmental certifications, minimise their CO2 footprint, and well manage waste and recycling, to meet the needs of customers, and the planet.
Recticel Eurothane GP
Recticel Eurothane GP PIR Insulation Boards are a high-quality insulation material that remains one of the core materials of the Recticel brand. Made of Polyisocyanurate with low emissivity foil bonded to each side, these boards are high-performing and dependable. Recticel PIR boards will not degrade over time and are high quality and durable. The boards are 2.4m by 1.2m and are available in thicknesses from 25mm to 160mm. These board are multi-purpose and can be installed within pitched roofs, flat roofs, floors, and walls including solid walls, timer frames, and metal frame applications. Insulation can reduce energy bills up to 30% which will result in cooler temperatures in the summer and warmer temperature in the winter with less heat entering and escaping the property, this will also have a positive effect on climate change. These boards have squared edges so the boards can be cut to size for most applications and tightly bitted together and sealed with foil tape at the joints they are also easy to cut with a saw of sharp blade and lightweight to handle.
Recticel Eurowall Cavity Board
Recticel Eurowall Cavity boards are made up of rigid Polyisocyanurate (PIR) and low emissivity foil and are designed for partial fill masonry cavity wall applications within newly constructed residential and commercial buildings. This high-performance insulation material is installed into the wall in between the inner and outer layer as the wall is being constructed and is designed for applications leaving a small gap between the board and the outer leaf to prevent cold air reaching the inner leaf. The board is 1200mm x 450mm and available in thicknesses between 50mm and 100mm to suit your projects requirements. The square cut edges of the boards are cut with precision to minimise gaps between boards, foil tape can be applied to prevent air gaps and thermal bridging. The high-performing thermal performance of the boards at 0.022W/mK will create a temperature-controlled environment. Cavity wall insulation will prevent moisture build up within your home when installed correctly.
Recticel Eurowall Plus Full Fill Cavity Board
Recticel Eurowall Plus boards are for full fill cavity wall applications within residential and commercial buildings designed for applications between the external buildings walls as they are being built. This board is for full fill applications reaching both the inner and outer leaf with no air gap. They are made up of a Polyisocyanurate (PIR) core with low emissivity foil facings on each side and are 1200mm by 460mm (1200mm x 460mm including tongue and groove joint) with thicknesses of 75mm, 115mm, and 140mm. The cavity boards have tongue and groove edges on all four sides that interlock to create a wind tight seal at the boards joins without the need to apply foil tape. With an excellent thermal performance of 0.022W/mK these board will keep your property temperature regulated. This insulation will create long term savings due to lower energy bills and can be installed within new builds and extensions.
Recticel FAQs
Does Insulation Prevent Condensation and Damp?
Insulation materials when installed correctly can help to prevent moisture building in the home by keeping the property warmer, including the surface of walls. Condensation is less likely to build on a warm wall. However, insulation materials are not the solution to existing damp problems, when installed prior to resolving the damp concerns, it can actually worsen the situation of move the damp around the property. When insulation is installed incorrectly it can cause thermal bridging which will encourage condensation and mold growth. Mold must be treated and cannot be fixed with insulation alone.
Is Recticel as good as Celotex?
Recticel and Celotex products are almost identical. Both standard insulation boards from Recticel and Celotex, Recticel Eurothane GP and Celotex TB, GA, and XR, come in sizes of 2400mm by 1200mm with a thermal conductivity of 0.022W/mK. Celotex offers thicknesses available from 20mm to 200mm and Recticel offers thicknesses from 25mm to 160mm. With these products it really comes down to brand preference, thickness required, and costs.
What are the most common types of insulation?
The most common types of insulation include rigid insulation boards generally made up of Polyisocyanurate (PIR) or Polyurethane (PUR) with foil or tissue facings bonded to each side. Other common types of insulation materials are blanket insulation in the form of batts and rolls made up of fibreglass or mineral wool.
What is the difference between partial fill and full fill cavity insulation?
Full fill insulation materials are more suitable for new construction builds as it requires precision. Full fill insulation leaves no traditional air gap between the insulation and the outer leaf of the wall, meaning the insulation is in full contact with the inner and outer leaf of the wall creating a continuous thermal barrier. Partial fill insulation leaves a 50mm gap between the insulation and the outer leaf of the wall. The gap acts as a barrier preventing moisture levels reaching the internal side or inner leaf of the wall.
How do you insulate a cold wall from the inside?
Internal wall insulation can be installed by using a dot and dab method to apply the insulation directly to the solid / brick wall. It can also be installed by building a timber or stud frame onto the solid wall and filling it in with insulation materials such as rigid PIR boards or mineral wool fibre.
